In Need of Motivation! D:

Posted by Fate - March 1st, 2010

First, before we get to the problem depicted in the title, I shall show you to a video I animated bits in.
It was for this guy on youtube called 'Nerimon', and he's quite popular.
I did the 8-bit stuff.

Now, for my dilemma.
I'm being daunted by my own project.
The next installment of my series.
It's just...too big, for something that has no popularity whatsoever.
:(

I'll keep puttering away, though, if I can.
My motivation is, and forever will be the fifth chapter.
I've had it all planned since the beginning, and it's going to be epic
and I'm soo close now, yet so far away.
Chapter 4 is just a thorn in my side.
As was Chapter 3 before it.

I have the series planned up to about...chapter 8, but if they're still substantially unpopular after 5, I'm through.

But I have to admit, chapter 4 is leaps and bounds ahead of chapter 3 already.
It's cleaner, faster, and just...better looking, I suppose.
grrr, I have so far to go >:(

Is that what you are going for then? Getting a spot in the popularity contest? An attempt to become someone through Newgrounds? You have to ask yourself what you want out of the series. Is it popularity? If so, are you attempting to gain popularity solely through use of your series without trying to direct people to it?

I might just be thinking too much, but these are things you might want to think about.

You serve a valid point, but no, that isn't the case.
All I want, really, is for my work to be seen by as many people that CAN see it.
It's not about me, directly, but the hours, days, weeks and months I put into what I do.

Exposure? Most of the time these things aren't just one way. A suggestion would be to get your name out there. Interact with people whether outside or on the internet. Not everyone has the luxury, or luck in some cases, to catch on like a highly-contagious virus. The suggestion being to say "hello" or something relevant to catch their attention and follow up with "I am a flash animator (use whatever words you feel are appropriate) and there is a series I would like you to watch, if you would be so kind." Now if it were me I might use different wording, but these are suggestions.

The case may be, however, that you are already trying this. If so, perhaps you must approach from a different angle. Finding different outlets for your series is another recommendation (if you have not already tried this). Newgrounds isn't the only flash (portal) out there.

Good luck with achieving your goal.

Thankyou.
I had attempted, somewhat, with the first video in this news article.
The guy I did it for has a substantial amount of followers, and although he linked to my youtube, that seemed to fall through, but I'm trying. :)
Thanks for the advice.

DONT GIVE UP NOW I NEED YOU

I like the 8-bit stuff in that movie.

I didn't watch or read the rest.

at least you were honest :P
